About Me
Peter Jones is an experienced and versatile jazz singer who has played all over London and southeast
England with some of the UK’s finest musicians. He has recorded three albums under his own name
and one as leader of Zoöphyte, a cross-genre project featuring the cream of younger UK jazz musicians. This
album - SIGNS OF LIFE - consists of nine original songs, and has received airplay on Jazz FM and other
UK radio stations.
As a singer, Peter's major inspirations are American rather than British: first and foremost the
late Mark Murphy, but also Jose James and Dwight Trible.
He is also the author of This is Hip: the Life of Mark Murphy (Equinox Publishing, 2018) and This is
Bop: Jon Hendricks and the Art of Vocal Jazz (due for publication November 2020), as well as a jazz
journalist for London Jazz News and Jazz in Europe.
