About Me
I was born in 1955 and I grew up in a nice spa in Central Slovakia and spent a happy childhood there in a very inspirative and cultural atmosphere. I have liked to capture pictures with my old, small analog compact camera since my teenage. I also discovered fusion and jazz later in the ´70s, during my studies at a technical university in Bratislava. So, I like jazz and I like to capture pictures since the times of my youth. These two hobbies are highly complementary and I enjoy combining them during jazz concerts. I try to capture moments when musicians are getting into a completely different dimension and when they perceive nothing, only music. I also try to capture pure joy from playing the music reflecting in a face of the musician. Sometimes I succeed in capturing such moments and then it is almost possible to hear the music from photos. My professional carrier is connected with technology posts. I have been working as a Medical Physicist at the Radiotherapy and Oncology Department in a large regional hospital, then as an Analyst and Programmer in an engineering company and later in a small private IT company, later in a foreign engineering company as a Business Manager and as an independent Freelance Translator of special technical documents. But photo and jazz photos were always my hobbies, especially when I bought a good camera with quality objectives sometimes 20 years ago. I am a regular visitor of jazz festivals, especially at the oldest jazz festival in the Slovak and Czech Republic Bratislava Jazz Days (since 1975) but also at regular smaller jazz festivals in Slovak and Czech cities. My photo was among the 30 best world jazz photos within the international photo competition Jazz World Photo 2014 (https://www.jazzworldphoto.com/gallery-2014/). I also published a book, with the support of my older son, with data and photos captured in the small Jazz Club 12 in Banská Bystrica from concerts during years 2013 and 2014, where the best and top jazzmen from Slovakia and the Czech Republic, but also from the USA, Hungary, Holland, Poland, and Germany were playing. I hope that the current situation with the Covid epidemy will become better and a world of concerts and festivals will be without any limitations soon.
