PETER FURLAN is a saxophonist, composer, arranger and educator whose striking originality is demonstrated on his Peter Furlan Project release “Between The Lines” and his release “Peter Furlan – Spy Glass Hill.” In addition to leading The Peter Furlan Project and The Peter Furlan Trio & Quintet, he co-leads two groups Mr. Gone and Le Jazz Electronique. He has performed and recorded with Terumasa Hino, Dizzy Gillespie, Eddie Henderson, David Budway, Roger Rosenberg, Vinnie Cutro, Thomas Chapin, Don Alias, Frank Foster, Brian Lynch, John Hart, Mike Richmond, Terry Silverlight, Cameron Brown, Steven Bernstein, Duane Eubanks, Ratzo Harris, Richie Morales, Neil Alexander, Mahavishnu Project, The Temptations, 10,000 Maniacs, The Four Tops and many others. The diversity of these musical experiences inform Peter’s comprehensive and eclectic creative palette. A New York native currently living in Congers, N.Y., Furlan studied with Jackie McLean and Paul Jeffrey at Hartt Conservatory of Music and Rutgers University. In the 1990s, he studied composition with Jim McNeely and received master degrees in both jazz composition and jazz performance from New York University.. He is the founder, artistic director and conductor of the Rockland Youth Jazz Ensemble, an adjunct jazz professor at Bergen Community College, Bergen Catholic’s Jazz Ensemble director, vice-president of the Rockland County Jazz and Blues Society and winner of the 2019 Arts Council of Rockland Performing Artist award.
