About Me
I'm a retired Theatre Arts educator, and jazz has somehow become my passion.
I grew up in a small Eastern Washington town, played piano and guitar, sang in jazz choirs, and listened mostly to the music you'd expect from a 70's/80's kid. In college I discovered Jarrett, Monk, Coltrane, and a few others. I taught high school Drama for 30+ years, wrote some music, played with friends, and raised two daughters whose lives were even more steeped in music than mine. Jazz was always part of my voracious music appetite, but somehow around 2020 I started devoting more and more listening hours to an ever-widening array of jazz sounds. When I retired, buying jazz records and reading jazz history books became my biggest hobby. My wife swears I must have lived a past life as a jazz musician, or at least someone who spent a lot of time in the jazz clubs of the '40's and '50's.
