About Me

Nils Fischer is one of the top percussionists in Europe, touring worldwide and recording constantly with his own groups Timbazo and CaboCubaJazz, with Nueva Manteca and many others. He appears on more than 60 CDs and has shared the stage with such legendary figures as Giovanni Hidalgo, Pío Leiva, Orestes Vilató, Armando Peraza, Paquito D'Rivera and Chocolate Armenteros.

In 2007 he released a CD as a tribute to veteran percussionist Joe Cuba. It is entitled “Nils Fischer & Timbazo ¡Gracias Joe Cuba!” and several top artists contributed to its making. The album has got rave reviews both at home and abroad and was top ranking in many Latin American Hitparades, and the band played among many other venues at North Sea Jazz Festival, mainstage.

His 2011 release - together with Cape Verdean master pianist Carlos Matos - ‘Rikeza y Valor’ [CaboCubaJazz, 2011] is receiving great reviews internationally. Currently the band is touring succesfully at major venues all over the world.

Nils’ newest CD “Rumberos a Montón” [2015] already receives worlwide plaudits. It features an incredible line-up: Lucrécia, José Luís Quintana 'Changuito', Carlos del Puerto, Alexander Abreu, Julio Padrón, Calixto Oviedo, Amik Guerra and others.
