Nigel Lloyd-Latham
A passionate voice in Jazz, Lounge and Classical Idioms
About Me
Nigel was born in Cheshire and studied singing and viola at Trinity College, London. As a classical singer, he has worked with BBC Radio 4 in London and, more recently, in Cardiff with the BBC National Orchestra of Wales and Richard Hickox. However, Nigel has always had a love for jazz and more laid-back styles of music, and since the arrival of his daughter three years ago, he has crossed over into the field of jazz, soul and swing.
He has enjoyed working at the Celtic Manor Resort, as well as several major hotels in Cardiff, singing and playing the piano in a variety of styles, to suit all tastes. His favourite musical period would probably be the 1940s and 50s but his musical influences are as diverse as Michael McDonald, Richard Rodney Bennett and Harry Connick Jr.
In August 2010 he started recording his first solo album, “Life is a beautiful thing…”,which includes songs by the likes of George Gershwin, Cole Porter, Stevie Wonder and Eric Clapton, plus three of his own. The album was released at the end of March; copies are available from www.windsorbookshop.com or PO Box 232, Penarth CF64 9EY.
