Nick Rossi

West Coast native jazz guitarist widely regarded for his style and taste.

About Me

Born 1971 in San Diego, California. Raised in La Verne, CA. Given a guitar for the Christmas just before 13th birthday and shortly thereafter began taking private lessons with Johnny Fortune (Sam Cooke, Barbara George). Moved to San Francisco in 1989 to attend the University of San Francisco. Wrote songs/performed with Bart Davenport. Founded the Loved Ones. Briefly studied trumpet with John Coppola. Led the Monarchs, backing Ron Silva, alongside brother Aaron Rossi on saxophone. Started playing the Hammond organ (1996). Studied some music at San Francisco State University. Led the Nick Rossi Set from behind the organ (through 2007). Recorded several discs, toured throughout California and Europe, appeared at most of San Francisco's top venues. A back injury in 2006 eventually led to a return to the guitar. Nick has recently studied with Calvin Keys, Brian Pardo, and at City College of San Francisco. He is currently performing live in the San Francisco area with the organ-based One Cylinder.
