My Jazz Story

I love jazz because the expression of the music is never the same. Always able to create in another direction. I was first exposed to jazz...at a very young age. I met [and worked with Many Greats,Kenny Burrell, Freddie Hubbard, Nancy Wilson,Curtis Fuller,Steve Ture, Donald Byrd, Larry Willis, Steve Davis, Berry Harris, John Hindricks, Donald Walden, Ken Cox, Marcus Belgrave]... The best show I ever attended was... at the Ebu which was an after hours club in Detroit in the 70's. Freddie Hubbard with Jr. Cook on tenor, George Cable on piano The first jazz record I bought was... Nina Simone "Little Girl Blue" Fantastic albumMy advice to new listeners...Listen to Dexter Gordon, Miles Davis, Sarah Vaughan, John Coltrane, Freddie Hubbard,Larry Willis, Geri Allen, Roy Hargrove, Nancy Wilson,Nina Simone,Betty Carter, Carmon McCrae to name a few These are the vets, the teachers.Or whatever else you have in mind.
