Michele “Mike” Rubini is a talented saxophonist and composer. Graduating in saxophone performance, Mike has been studying classical and contemporary music from an early age. He received his master’s degree in jazz performance, summa cum laude. Attending “The New School for Jazz and Contemporary Music” as a scholarship holder, he had the possibility to study with some great musicians of the international jazz scene. Mike has played with notable artists such as Eddie Henderson, Randy Brecker, Bob Mintzer, Eddie Daniels, Dave Liebman, Lew Tabackin, Vince Mendoza, Joe Lovano and more. He has won contests like the “Luciano Zorzella Award” and the first prize for the “Bari in Jazz Competition”. Mike has appeared in important jazz festivals in Italy including Umbria Jazz, Talos Festival, Piombino Jazz Festival, Atina Jazz Festival, Gaia Jazz, Francavilla Jazz. He has also played in multiple recording sessions both as a sideman and as guest. Mike strives to make music that moves people and hopes to make an impact in the music scene as an open minded and innovative musician.
