About Me
My Jazz Story
I was first exposed to jazz as a child because my Dad was a drummer who worked in New
Jersey. He constantly played Frank Sinatra and Luis Prima, Count Basie and Buddy Rich, big
band and Jazz. Music was always in my ears and I learned how to sing from listening to the
great performers. I was always singing in school and continued after high school. New York brought me a job as a Copa Dancer at The Copacabana,
and I got to see the greats.
When the dancers were taken off the clubs regular feature, due to funds, I auditioned for The Dean Martin Show executives and became a Golddigger and
Dingaling Sister
and a Soul Sister, working 7
years in LA. There I did commercials singing for Red Rose Tea, and Equity shows. I have done choral work, and recorded my own
cds. I produced on Jazz pop called Cool Burn, a gospel cd and a patriotic cd.
Moving to New York City my birth home, I have worked many clubs. I love rhythm, since my Dad was a drummer and since my Mom was a dancer, I can't
sit down for a long time. I need to keep
moving so I love jazz and
experimenting with vocal sounds. Sad or happy songs, I just love to make music and working with other musicians is just like
home for me. I perform as a soloist at St Marks Church in the Bowery, and for veteran events and always working on new songs to record.
