About Me
Born in Milano, Italy, Michele Franzini is a pianist, composer, arranger and artistic director. Classically trained, he then graduated in jazz music from the Conservatorio N.Paganini in Genova with high honors. Meanwhile, he has developed his own distinctive sound performing as pianist or leader in many groups, recording or playing live, among others, with prominent italian and international artists like Brian Lynch, Mauro Negri, Lee Konitz, Ralph Alessi, Fabrizio Bosso, Paula Santoro, Emanuele Cisi, Francisco Mela, Greg Osby, Andrea Dulbecco, Tiziana Ghiglioni, Pietro Leveratto, Massimo Manzi, Larry Schneider, Tino Tracanna, Rudy Royston. Mentioned and recognized by jazz journalists as an intriguing jazz musician, during his activity he had the opportunity to express himself within several different kind of situations, from big band to duo, from traditional jazz to avant-garde, becoming a well appreciated teacher, too. His purpose as a composer and performer is to create a true, honest improvising playground, whether using free forms or a modern mainstream jazz language.
