About Me
i am so happy to have this opportunity to tell people about me. to make a long story short, i like to think of myself as a descendant of les paul and his music, particularly his recordings that he made by overdubbing. i have a website, michaelstpeter.com. my site at present has 2 collections of multi-track recordings that i made that are mostly standard songs. i think people interested in jazz might appreciate these recordings more than the other recordings on the site, although, the site is 99% saxophone and there's other types of music that someone might enjoy. my goal with the standards was to approach each song using different musical ideas, for example using re-harmonization, and using different recording techniques, for example recording the saxophone backwards, and using multitracking and recording techniques in the interest of creating different kinds of sounds and diverse kinds of sounds. these standards have some improvisation, but that was not the focus of my work. composition and interpretation of written and non-written music was more the focus. and the bottom line was to create each recording so that it would be interesting to the ear in some way. i know some people have the feeling that you can't make music, especially jazz without the interaction of more than 1 person. my intention was to make good recordings and interesting recordings. well the standards are all multi-tracked, they are my arrangements and performances. if you don't want to call them jazz it's alright with me if you just call it swing or saxophone music or instrumental, etc. also on my site are some soprano saxophone soloes that are improvised, perhaps more to the liking of some people. please come visit my site! michaelstpeter.com michael st. peter
