Cincinnati-based saxophonist who pretends to be a writer sometimes.
I feel the same way about contributing to All About Jazz as I imagine most of the writers here do: I see this is as small contribution that I can make to the well-being of the art form, and to hard-working artists who deserve more publicity than they're getting.
I'm a saxophonist and have worked professionally in Kansas City, Denver, and most recently Cincinnati, Ohio. Upon moving to Cincinnati in August of 2010, I noticed that while the jazz scene is not lacking in talent, there is a genuine need for publicity here. My contributions to AAJ are a small effort to help alleviate that problem!
