Danish Jazz Singer and singer-songwriter Mette Juul releases her seventh album, ’Thank You and
Other Stories’ on April 4th 2025.
Through the years Mette Juul has been inspired by the singer-songwriter tradition and the world
of jazz, focusing on storytelling which has been a source of inspiration for generations. With
‘Thank You & Other Stories’, Mette Juul continues on this path.
The album features Double bass player and multi-instrumentalist Lars Danielsson, pianist Peter
Rosendal and a guest appearance from percussionist Xavier Desandre Navarre – who all
contributes to the interpretations of the stories.
On ’Thank You & Other Stories’ Mette Juul has written ten songs in which she strives to
understand and relate to the world we live in today. She also interprets two cover songs which
thematically has inspired her.
Mette Juuls 6th solo release, Celeste (2023), with guitarist Mike Moreno and Double bass player
and multi-instrumentalist Lars Danielsson, is a blend of personal interpretations of timeless
American classics as well as modern compositions and some original work written by Juul.
Celeste is a collection creative storytelling through modern jazz.
About Mette Juul: Mette Juul, an established singer and songwriter in Denmark, has gained
noticeable acclaim for her incomparable vocal skills and heartfelt interpretations. Juul released
her fourth album Change on Universal Music in September 2019, followed by New York-
Copenhagen in March 2020. The new music has greatly expanded her listener-ship and
harvested great reviews worldwide.
In 2015, upon the release of her third album There is a song (Universal Music)- her career really
took off. An album she recorded in New York with Danish pianist Nikolaj Hess, Ambrose
Akinmusire on trumpet, Rodney Green on drums, Joe Sanders on bass and the guitarist Mike
Moreno. This release in a way solidified Mette Juul’s musical signature, where she manages to
fuse the Nordic melancholic sound with the dynamic American Jazz heritage.
