Born on october 15th, 1983, MATTEO FRABONI is one of the most talented drummer and italian composers come out from today's international but also european jazz scene. Began on piano then on drums as a self-taught musician at a young age, he became fond of jazz attended the most prestigious schools in Italy: Berklee College of Music in Perugia (2002), Music Masterclasses Città di Castello (2003), with Maurizio Giammarco, Fabio Zeppetella, Massimo Moriconi, Umberto Fiorentino e John Arnolds. He studied with the pianist and composer Ramberto Ciammarughi, Massimo Manzi and Fabrizio Sferra. In Cuba he studied the foundations of Cuban music with the great Maestro Josè Luis Quintana “Changuito”, who was awarded two “Latin Grammy Awards”, in 2001. He studied the foundations of traditional Indian music with Maestro Aky Montoya from Berlin (2003) during the jazz workshops organized by the pianist Giovanni Ceccarelli. He goes further in the study of Brazilian music with the brazilian drummer Natalio Alvès De Oliveiras (2004). He attends the masterclasses with Bill Stewart, Peter Erskine, Mat Wilson, Roberto Gatto, Christian Meyer, O.Hernandez, Paolo Pellegatti, Ron Savage, Tullio De Piscopo, Ellade Bandini, Franco D’Andrea, Seamous Blake, Brian Blade, etc. In New York he takes private lessons from Gene Jackson, Ari Hoening, Dan Weiss e Nat Smith (2009). In dicember 2009 he makes a journey to Senegal, where he studies African Polyrhythms with the griot Mamadou Diouf. In 2008 he takes part in the summer workshop at Siena Jazz Foundation (3rd grade - highest level) where he is selected for the “Permanent workshop of music research” run by Maestro Stefano Battaglia (ECM). He studied Composition and Arrangement at Conservatorio Rossini in Pesaro where he wrote a short thesis about Traditional African Music and Polyrhythm for the examination of Afroamerican History with Maestro Stefano Zenni, which granted him honours degree . He is a graduate at Conservatorio G.B.Martini in Bologna. He has played with Aruan Ortiz, Franco D’Andrea, Fabio Zeppetella, Dario Deidda, Bruno Tommaso, Barend Middelhoff, Antonio Zambrini, Tino Tracanna, Reverend Lee Brown, Simone Zanchini, Giovanni Maier, Stefano Battaglia, George Garzone, Riccardo Del Fra and many other musicians and played at several jazz festivals and clubs, like: Alexander Platz (ROME), Chet Baker (BO), Il Posto (BO), Le Scimmie (MI), Zingarò Jazz Club, Lascensore Jazz Club (AN), Pescara Jazz, Siena Jazz, Ancona Jazz, Pesaro Jazz Village, 7 giorni in Jazz(AN), Bordighera Jazz, The Hague Jazz. info: http://www.myspace.com/matteofraboni
