About Me

Matt Dwonszyk is an upcoming jazz bassist from Hartford, CT. Starting on the electric bass at age eleven, Matt grew up playing numerous types of music. When he entered high school, Matt attended the Academy of Performing Arts in Hartford where he began studying jazz with teachers such as Jimmy Greene, Kris Allen and Paul Brown. Matt was fortunate to perform in Russia through the Academy in 2008. Also in high school, Matt started attending the Artist Collective founded by the great Jackie McLean. He soon went on to the Jackie McLean Institute of Jazz at the Hartt School of Music where he began studying with Professor Nat Reeves and Professor Steve Davis. In 2013, Matt graduated from the Hartt School of Music and he is currently pursuing his Masters in Jazz Performance at Suny Purchase in Purchase, NY. Matt has performed with Harold Maybern, Larry Willis, Dr. Eddie Henderson, Steve Nelson, John Farnsworth, David Hazeltine, Steve Davis, Arron Goldberg and many more.
