Mark Sampson
I'm a semi-retired writer, music journalist and reviewer, DJ and music editor of a Latin cultural site, Sounds and Colours.
About Me
A writer, journalist, "book-maker" and part-time DJ based in South-west France, I was born in London and raised in Belfast. I studied English Literature at Exeter University and American Studies at the University of Sussex in Brighton, where I met my wife, Deborah. We moved from Sheffield to France in 1995, not long after the birth of our daughter. In 2003, we moved from the Corrèze to the Lot to build the straw-bale house featured in the only series to date of Grand Designs Abroad. I have written stage plays, screenplays, children's books and two books of non-fiction. As a journalist, I have written for most UK newspapers and many magazines, including Songlines, France Magazine and Living France. As a DJ I have had several local radio shows and currently host Tropical Hot Dog Night for Radio Grand Brive. I review Latin jazz and other world music for Songlines magazine and am music editor for Sounds and Colours.
