My Jazz Story

I love jazz because... of the endless variety and many opportunities for expression of genius *** I was first exposed to jazz... probably in High School - I found it incredible I could find it on the radio. I was in Chicago and I think it was WBEZ at the time *** I met [musician name]... Brad Mehldau after a concert in Santa Cruz, CA. Also, Stanley Clarke at a CD signing after a Yoshi's gig in Oakland, CA. *** The best show I ever attended was... hard to say but probably an ECM musician. Tord Gustavsen comes to mind. Also, Brad Mehldau at Yoshi's circa 2010 (not ECM but great nonetheless). Eberhard Weber at Pick-Steiger in Evanston, IL in 1977 (or '76?) *** The first jazz record I bought was... Really can't remember but I remember buying a Lambert, Hendricks & Ross LP back in HS! I think I got Miles Kind of Blue around the same time (all Jazz afficianados have it!) *** My advice to new listeners... sit back and let the music flow through you. This is not to be rushed :) *** Or whatever else you have in mind.
