Jazzway 6004 - a unique venue for jazz

My Jazz Story

Published on: 2017-04-04

I love jazz because it's always new, spontaneous and exciting. I was first exposed to jazz in my teens, when I heard Miles Davis' Kind of Blue and Dave Brubeck's Time Out. The best show I ever attended was Herbie Hancock's show at the Kennedy Center in March 2012... there are many others, but this one really stands out! The first jazz record I bought was Herbie Hancock's Head Hunters. My advice to new listeners is to not assume you need advanced listening skills to appreciate jazz. Just listen and let the emotion of the music move you. And if you live in the Baltimore area, check out my Jazzway 6004 house concert series.

All About Jazz & Jazz Near You were built to promote jazz music: both recorded and live events. We rely primarily on venues, festivals and musicians to promote their events through our platform. With club closures, shelter in place and an uncertain future, we've pivoted our platform to collect, promote and broadcast livestream concerts to support our jazz musician friends. This is a significant but neccesary effort that will help musicians now, and in the future. You can help offset the cost of this essential undertaking by making a donation today. In return, we'll deliver an ad-free experience (which includes hiding the bottom right video ad). Thank you.
