About Me

Marcio García, Dominican pianist, composer and educator, began his formal studies in classical piano graduating from the Centro de Educación Musical Moderna in his hometown of Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic, obtaining a teaching degree in Music while also completing studies in popular music at the National Conservatory of Music of Santo Domingo. Marcio moved to the United States to continue his studies at the Lamont School of Music, University of Denver, where he completed a Bachelor in Music Performance and a Masters in Music in jazz performance; an Artist Diploma in Jazz Studies from the SUNY Purchase Conservatory of Music. Marcio has performed at the Festival de Jazz Restauración Santo Domingo, White Plains Jazz Festival, Monterey Next Generation Jazz Festival, Five Points Jazz Festival, Dazzle Jazz Club, Carnegie Hall, Blue Note NYC, Nublu, The Bitter End, Birdland Jazz Club and Dizzy's Club Coca-Cola in Lincoln Center. He has also performed live at KUVO 89.3 studios in Denver, Colorado and at WBGO Jazz 88.3 New York. Other performances include DEVO co-founder Mark Mothersbaugh's original six-keyboard project “Myopia”, Viktor Kiraly (NBC The Voice 2015 - Top 24), Jon Faddis, GRAMMY nominated Groove Collective, and Giovanni Hidalgo. García recorded his first album entitled “Forest”, released in 2019. He currently resides in Brooklyn, New York City where he maintains a busy schedule private teaching and performing.
