My Jazz Story

Published on: 2017-02-19

I love jazz because it's spontaneous composition and expression beyond words. I was first exposed to jazz as a child to Frank Sinatra & Sarah Vaughn. I have played with Big Joe Turner, Art Blakey, Santana, Joe Henderson, Bobby Hutcherson, Baby Gramps, The Funk Brothers, Sam Shepard, Benny Green, Carlos Santana, Julian Priester, Eddie Henderson, Sonny Simmons, Perry Robinson, Amy Denio, Michael White, Hadley Caliman, Jeff Johnson, Jay Thomas, Mike Bisio, Bert Wilson and the Ivar’s Clams. The best show I ever attended was Judy Garland Dallas 1958. The first jazz record I owned was "Monk's Music".

All About Jazz & Jazz Near You were built to promote jazz music: both recorded albums and live events. We rely primarily on venues, festivals and musicians to promote their events through our platform. With club closures, limited reopenings and an uncertain future, we've pivoted our platform to collect, promote and broadcast livestream concerts to support our jazz musician friends. This is a significant but neccesary step that will help musicians and venues now, and in the future. You can help offset the cost of this essential undertaking by making a donation today. In return, we'll deliver an ad-free experience (which includes hiding the sticky footer ad). Thank you!
