My Jazz Story

Published on: 2017-02-19

I love jazz because it's spontaneous composition and expression beyond words. I was first exposed to jazz as a child to Frank Sinatra, Louis Armstrong & Sarah Vaughn. I have played with Big Joe Turner, Art Blakey, Santana, Joe Henderson, Bobby Hutcherson, Baby Gramps, The Funk Brothers, Sam Shepard, Benny Green, Carlos Santana, Julian Priester, Eddie Henderson, Sonny Simmons, Perry Robinson, Amy Denio, Michael White, Hadley Caliman, Jeff Johnson, Jay Thomas, Mike Bisio, Bert Wilson and the Ivar’s Clams. The first show I ever attended was Judy Garland Dallas 1958. The first jazz record I owned was "Monk's Music".
