Malou Beauvoir
Singer/Songwriter/Actress, Malou Beauvoir is a unique combination of her multi-cultural (Haitian, French and American) influences
About Me
Haitian-American performing artist Malou Beauvoir is a captivating, highly emotive singer-songwriter, actor
and producer who brings to her artistry the unique amalgamation of her multi-cultural influences and
experiences. A citizen of the world, she has lived in the US, Europe and Haiti, and traveled extensively; each
culture she has encountered has impacted and informed her in different ways, reinforcing her openness to
different perspectives and forms of spirituality.
Her sixth album “SPIRITWALKER” combines treasured Haitian folk songs written for the spirits with original
compositions inspired both by contemporary social & political issues, and by the ancient spirits of Haiti,
whispering in her ear.
“Papa Damballah” from this album was recently featured in Suzan Beraza’s 2019 award-winning documentary
for PBS about the Haitian workers in the Dominican Republic entitled “Massacre River : A Woman without a
Country”. Malou’s composition “You made a Fool Out of Me” was also featured in Elizabeth Rappeneau’s “ Paul
et ses Femmes” in which she also held a supporting role. Her acting work includes roles in “The Queen”,
“Farewell” and ABC TV series “PERCEPTION”.
Malou Beauvoir’s art has always been infused with a spiritual quality rooted in Haitian music. This quality is
now more prominent, taking on a new sense of urgency and representing the essence of her sound. It is
fundamental to everything she does — both in music and in her social work.
In 2019, she commenced work on a documentary focusing on the “essence of the VAUDOU culture”, traveling to
Haiti, Benin, and throughout the world to redefine the narrative of this intriguing and compelling culture.
Also, “CELEBRE”, a fund raising project (single) for IHI, an international foundation working on the ground in
Haiti to bring affordable testing and treatment for cancer patients in rural Haiti. Acting as a co-producer and
co-writer, the project reunited her with SPIRITWALKER co-producers Chico Boyer and Cheff Loncher while
introducing her to songwriter Beth Blatt and the 4 talented singers who would join in to bring the project to
life.
Malou has donated her performances and support to the “TIBET FUND Gala” in NY, the Fonkoze Gala in L.A, the
Back Country Jazz fundraiser, “Roots for Development and other non-profit organizations who are working to
make this world a better place.
