Maggie Herron

I was a serious classical music student from an early age and simultaneously improvising and writing melodies. I was first exposed to jazz in high school with the Dave Brubeck Time Out album. And I opened a concert for Dave Brubeck as a young woman where I performed all original songs. He was very warm and encouraging to me. I started performing in clubs when I turned 21 and I had no formal jazz training. My development of piano voicings and improvisation was influenced from years of playing with jazz musicians.
