Louise Dodds
Scottish jazz singer, currently working in London
About Me
Far and away the best female vocalist of the night
Edinburgh Evening News, The Jazz Bar review
Since emerging on the British jazz scene in 2005, jazz singer Louise Dodds has seen her
music take her throughout UK, into Europe and around the Middle East.
Her career was launched in her native Edinburgh, where she quickly became a firm favourite
with the Scottish jazz audience. Her eponymous debut album, featuring a collection of some
of her favourite standards alongside classic vocalese bebop numbers, was featured on
several radio shows and helped her to secure headline dates for her first UK tour. The Leeds
leg of the tour was picked up on by BBC Radio Leeds, who subsequently broadcast a live
interview with the singer from her headline show at Pizza on the Park in London.
After several years working and performing in Scotland, Louise was then offered the
opportunity to perform in the Middle East, including a stint as resident vocalist at the world's
only 7 star hotel, the Burj al Arab in Dubai. It was during her 18 months working in the
Middle East that she spent her spare time concentrating on learning new material, resulting
in a impressive repertoire of over 300 jazz standards and bebop classics and her now
legendary own Real Book.
Sensational vocals
Greenwich Visitor, London Riverfront Jazz Festival Review
Since returning to the UK she has relocated to London, performing regularly at her long
standing residencies, headline jazz gigs, festival dates and private parties throughout the
city and beyond. She is working alongside some of the countries top jazz musicians, and her
peers have described her as innately musical.
