My Jazz Story

I was exposed to jazz by my first music mentor....the late SKIPP PEARSON. He heard my early voice singing the R&B favorites of the time and said my voice was better suited to the likes of Nancy Wilson, Sarah Vaughn, Ella Fitzgerald, and Lena Horne. I'm so thrilled I listened and learned technique, interpretation of a lyric and to develop my unique sound. I am honored to be "South Carolina's Official First Lady of Song," by Senate Proclamation and to have performed in Australia for Queen Elizabeth and Prince Philp in a Royal Command Performance. The many honors, awards, and the recongizition I have received from around the world have been a healing force and I remain humbled....and confident. Loretta Holloway
