Lina Nyberg is widely regarded as one of Sweden's foremost jazz artists and continues to maintain a strong international presence through collaborations, touring, and critically acclaimed recordings. Over the course of her career, she has received numerous distinctions, including her first Swedish Grammy (Grammis) in 1995, the Gyllene Skivan (Golden Record) award in 2017, and the prestigious Jan Johansson Scholarship in 2021. Nyberg served as Composer in Residence with Bohuslän Big Band (2022-23) and has also earned recognition for her large-scale collaborations with the Norrlandsoperan Symphony Orchestra (Terrestrial, 2017) and Västerås Sinfonietta (Reflections, 2022). In 2006, she co-founded IMPRA (www.impra.se), which celebrates its 20th anniversary this year, and in 2020 she was elected to the Royal Swedish Academy of Music. She currently serves as Associate Professor of Jazz Voice at the Grieg Academy, University of Bergen. An artist of remarkable originality and vision, Nyberg has established herself as a pioneering voice in contemporary jazz. Her fearless curiosity and uncompromising artistic integrity continue to propel her work into new and compelling musical territory. Starting with the debut in 1993 with the duo CD Close together with late pianist Esbjörn Svensson until now, at the release of her 25th album ”Present” (Hoob records) September 18th 2026. Line up: Lina Nyberg voice and live electronics, Linnea Jonsson, trumpet, Fredrik Ljungkvist saxophone, Josef Kallerdahl bass & Peter Danemo drums, ”Present is an avant-garde jazz reflection on the passage of time, where Lina and her chordless ensemble playfully move between joy and sorrow. Lina’s intricate compositions form the backbone of the album, providing ample space for the musicians to shine and flourish.”
