About Me

This Harlem born chanteuse is a master storyteller with a soulful taste of song; as an international vocalist Kym has been performing well over 40 years in the U.S., Europe and Asia. Her unique should, innovative phrasing, impeccable timing, ear for harmony and emotional commitment to her songs turned her into a professional vocalist at the age of 15. Ms. Lawrence has appeared on Broadway as a pit singer for “The Wiz”,”Raisin in the Sun”, Black and Blue” and “Sophisticated Ladies”. She has also had starring role in “Harlem Comes to Broadway and “Women in Music. Whether working as a producer, bandleader or as a guest vocalist,she has performed with any great jazz and rhythm and blues icons such as Count Basie, Sy Oliver, Earl May,The Village Soul Choir, Weldon Irvine, Bernard “Pretty” Purdie, Nina Simone, Moment of Truth (So Much For Love)Undisputed Truth (Smiling Faces) the George Gee Orchestra, Virgil Scott Orchestra, Phil Costa Big Band, James Weidman Jazz Group and recently Clifton Anderson among other acclaimed Jazz giants.
