Kris Smith, born and raised in Minneapolis, is a journalism major at the University of Tennessee, Knoxville, where he’s lived since 2022. A lifelong music lover, Kris is passionate about jazz in all its forms, with a particular appreciation for post-bop legends like Miles Davis and Herbie Hancock, whose Head Hunters (1973) album ranks among his favorites. His musical tastes also encompass swing, western swing, and gypsy jazz, with icons like Django Reinhardt, Duke Ellington, and Ella Fitzgerald holding a special place in his heart.
