About Me

I come from a family of musicians... my grandfather and mother were musicians. I was told that I after I first learned to walk, that I headed straight for the piano. I booked my first group at 16 yrs old, and over the next several years, I worked alongside my mother with fund raising events for scholarships for college age kids, writing press releases, and designing business cards for musicians and fliers.

For four years in the mid-90's, I published my own newsletter, On That Note, for and about jazz; promoting jazz musicians and clubs in and around Philadelphia and New Jersey. In 2001, I started writing for an online newsletter, www.jazzreview.com. And in the Fall of 2004, I became an educator — teaching the Business of Music at Temple University’s Boyer School of Music and Dance — bringing in professionals in the music business to speak to the students about their careers, etc., and taught copyright, music publishing, creating bios and how to get paid, contracts and riders for five years.

I was the Music Coordinator for Jazz at Cliveden Annual Jazz Festivals (4yrs) and co-chair of the 2010 the Tony Williams Scholarship Jazz Festival, Labor Day Weekend, (both in Philadelphia).

I have been on the Board of Jazz Bridge since 2010, a position I hold in high regard. Currently, I promote Jazz Events and provide Public Relations support for various organizations and venues to include: Opera North, Inc. (an African-American Opera Company), LaRose Jazz Club, The James A. Michener Museum.

On April 2011, I presented “The Tim Warfield Organ Band - Tribute to Shirley Scott” at the LaRose Jazz Club, in Germantown, to a sold out crowd (140). Another event is planned for later this year.

Musicians I currently work with include: Tim Warfield, Terell Stafford, Jerry Weldon, Justin Faulkner, Nazir Ebo, Barbara Walker, Brenda Smith, Joanna Pascale, Bootsie Barnes, Bobby Watson, Ms. Justine, Vincent Ector, Dennis Fortune, Suzzette Ortiz, Lily White, Byron Landham and Frank Bey, to name a few.
