About Me

Photography has been a great blessings to me over the years. It has opened many doors, and has given me an enjoyable way to serve humanity. Capturing small moments in time, whether on film or pixels, has given me a greater appreciation for everything in life. So, may I never take this gift and the people I share it with for granted. And I thank God for the introduction.

My Jazz Story

I love jazz because...it’s timeless. Since the dawn of time, I believe, mankind has been finding a way to add to the music they heard in their environment. First, by imitating birds, other animals, and the sounds in nature. I was first exposed to jazz through my cousin Valerie even though I had been hearing jazz throughout my life, but Grover Washington’s album “Reed Seed” caught my attention like nothing else. That began my exploration of other Jazz to buy. Photographing jazz artists came years later, and at the Newport Jazz Festival I was able to talk to Grover Washington about my exposure to his work.

My House Concert Story

I’ve been covering Jazz for some years. And since 2008 have been taking photos for my wife’s articles at Jazz festivals and occasionally at a club. In the beginning, I got interviews and wrote a few articles for New York newspapers, which lead to other freelance assignments covering various areas from business profiles to sports. It’s been a blessed time and I’ve heard and photographed some great concerts and events, and met many beautiful people over 30 years. I pray God give me another 50 years to document our times and this music called Jazz.
