Kameron Markworth

About Me
Kameron Markworth is a versatile performer, composer, and teaching artist currently active
in the Minneapolis, MN. His musical philosophy is strongly
rooted in a knowledge of tradition and an aspiration for progress. As a result, Kameron's
style is firmly based on a dedication to strong foundations and ensemble cohesion.
In addition to leading his own groups, Kameron has performed across North America as a
part of several groups including the Pat Harbison Quartet featuring Corey Christiansen &
Steve Houghton, the Mike Hacket Quartet featuring Luke Gillespie, the Nowlin Mulholland
Quintet, Line of Sight, the Jay Ware Quartet/Trio, the Amy Rempel Trio, the Marlin McKay
Quintet, and the Globus-Hoenich Quintet featuring John Swana, Behn Gillece & Jim Holton.
His recent activities have led him to perform and provide clinics with the Jay Ware Quintet,
a group that serves as artists-in-residence for a variety of University and High School Jazz
Festivals across the country.
Kameron served as an Associate Instructor in the Jazz Studies program at Indiana
University under the direction of legendary jazz pedagogue Dr. David N. Baker. In the
summer of 2009, Kameron was invited to participate in the Steans Institute for Young
Artists where he was given the opportunity to collaborate with some of todays most
talented young artists while being coached by Rufus Reid, James Moody, David Baker, and
Nathan Davis. Kameron holds music degrees from McNally Smith College of Music,
Augsburg College, and Indiana University.
Kameron teaches private lessons for both Electric and Upright Bass. Due to his education
and wide depth of playing experiences, Kameron can help beginners through advanced
bassists work on technique, reading skill, theory, tune learning, and ear training. Kameron
specializes in several different styles from Classical to Rock, Jazz to Country.
