Pianist, keyboardist, composer and educator
Justin is from Denver, Colorado. Originally entering college as a Performance Piano Major with a heavy Classical background, after one semester in he found his calling, switched to Jazz and never looked back. He graduated with a BA in Jazz and Classical Piano Studies from MSU Denver and has over 25 years playing and 12 years of seasoned teaching experience and also teaching all ages, levels and all styles including Classical, Jazz, Rock, Pop, Blues, Gospel, Latin/Brazilian and Contemporary piano and guitar styles. Justin has mentored with with critically acclaimed Jazz piano greats Art Lande, Eric Gunnison, Peter Stoltzman Glenn Zaleski and Dennis Hamm from the Grammy-winning band Thundercat. Justin’s originally composed jazz EP received worldwide radio airplay on Denver’s own 89.3 FM KUVO radio station, listen here: https://soundcloud.com/justin-highland Not only a pianist, he is a versatile keyboardist for Organ, Clavinet and lots of various subtractive, wave table and modular synthesizers, developing innovative sounds and sound design. Other credits include the LA band Inner Stellar, an eclectic blend of Psychedelic Rock, Jazz and Jazz Fusion, Experimental and Electronic elements.
