About Me
Judy Wexler is a Billboard and JazzWeek charting vocalist who, over the course of her 20-year career, has headlined at jazz festivals, performing arts centers and leading jazz clubs both nationally and internationally. JazzTimes Magazine called her “one of the most compelling jazz vocalists on the West Coast.” A sophisticated jazz and contemporary pop vocalist, she emerged in the early 2000s, showcasing her adept style inspired by artists like Shirley Horn, Annie Ross, and Irene Kral. Her 7th album entitled No Wonder, released in early 2025 on Jewel City Jazz, hit #19 on JazzWeek’s national jazz radio chart and remained on the chart for 11 weeks. All of her previous albums charted on JazzWeek and were favorably received by the press, with critics highlighting her storytelling abilities. They include Back to the Garden (2021), a collection of jazz-infused songs from the Summer of Love; Crowded Heart (2019), a collaboration with pianist Alan Pasqua that showcased “Modern Jazz Standards for the 21st Century,” for which Ted Gioia (New York Times best-selling author of The Jazz Standards) said, “What a joy to listen to this album for the exquisite music-making, but also for the astuteness in finding and featuring outstanding songs by current-day jazz composers”; What I See (2013); Under a Painted Sky (2011); Dreams & Shadows (2008); and her debut, Easy on the Heart (2005). Judy was profiled twice on NPR Weekend Edition with Susan Stamberg, who said, “Based on the evidence, Judy Wexler can sing almost anything.” She was included in The Absolute Sound magazine’s cover story, “13 Female Jazz Vocalists You Need to Hear,” and DownBeat Magazine ran a feature story on her entitled “Judy Wexler Goes Back to the Garden.” She resides in Glendale, CA, with her husband and two cats and performs on the road and at top jazz venues in town, including the Baked Potato, Catalina Jazz Club, Herb Alpert’s Vibrato Jazz Grill and the Jazz at LACMA concert series. “Wexler reminds us what makes her special—phrasing, dynamics, and subtle melodic shifts are her tools, and she wields them effortlessly… every note, phrase, and pause serves the story. Judy Wexler continues to be a storyteller above all else—and on No Wonder, she tells some of her best stories yet.” – Jazz Views UK Judywexler.com Facebook.com/judywexler.music IG: @JudyWexler
