Peruvian drummer , composer and educator.

Drummer, composer and educator born in Lima – Peru, on November 29th – 1982. Juan Carlos started playing drums at the age of 14 and began performing professionally the last year of high school. He holds a Bachelor degree in Percussion from The National Conservatory of Music in Peru where he is also a professor in the outreach music program. He has played and recorded with many projects and bands of different styles and genres such as the Peruvian bands “La Mente” and “Inity Band”, which has been the backing band for the well-known reggae starts: Clinton Fearon (Gladiators), Calton Coffie (Inner Circle), Junior Reid (Black Uhuru), Anthony B, Pato Banton and Mykel Rose. He has also shared stage with Cypress Hill, Los Fabulosos Cadillacs, Steel Pulse and Calle 13. Additionally, he has participated as soloist in many editions of “The International Contemporary Classical Music Festival” as well as the “International Percussion Festival of Lima”. Since 2010 he has his own jazz-fusion project “Kambujo”, in which he dedicates a lot of time researching and spreading Peruvian Music fused with jazz. In New York he has studied privately with Nicky Marrero (La Fania All Stars), Mark Guiliana, John Riley and Ziv Ravitz. He just released his first album“Insomnio” on November 3rd through virtual platforms such as: iTunes, Google Play, Amazon, 7 digital, Hmv y Emusic. “Insomnio” was launched under “One Trick Dog Records”, label that is home to important jazz figures such as the Israeli pianist Roy Assaf. The official CD release concert will be held on February 1st at Smoke Jazz Club
