About Me

A Philadelphia native, Jordy Freed’s passion for music began at a young age, as a saxophone and clarinet student. He was immersed in creative music early on, listening to a who’s who in classic and contemporary jazz, as well as classical music. While a student, he developed a relationship with fellow saxophone legend Michael Brecker (who shares the same hometown and high school as Jordy). Brecker served as Jordy’s mentor and friend throughout his high school years.

At Temple University, attaining a degree in Communications, Jordy shifted his focus to the industry, allowing his previous background as a performer and listener to give him a unique perspective and understanding on how to market music. He worked as an on-air, overnight jazz radio host at Philadelphia’s WRTI-FM. He soon after joined DL Media‘s staff. At DL Media, Jordy has led successful publicity and marketing campaigns for artists such as Chick Corea, Gary Burton, Danilo Perez, Gretchen Parlato, Christian McBride, and Kevin Eubanks, among many others. He has a wide range of musical tastes, from Wayne Shorter and Pat Metheny to J Dilla and Common to Bon Iver, Wilco and Joni Mitchell.
