About Me
Jonah Parzen-Johnson is a young saxophonist proud to be a part of a long Jazz tradition. Growing up on the South Side of Chicago, Jonah was surrounded by rich traditions contributed from sources as varied as the AACM (Association for the Advancement of Creative Musicians) and Chicago Blues and Jazz scenes. At age eighteen, Jonah moved to New York City to study at the New York University Steinhardt Jazz Studies Program. Since moving to New York, Jonah has performed at several venues, including The BlueNote NYC, The Jazz Gallery, and Smalls Jazz Club, and with musicians such as Randy Brecker, Lenny Pickett, Jon Hendricks, Wallace Roney, Joe Lovano, Ralph Alessi, Kenny Werner and Brian Lynch.
