My Jazz Story

I love jazz because it allows me to play outside of the "box." Being a drummer, we like to create and expand our ability. Jazz gives us a free pass to make each piece an adventure. I was first exposed to jazz as a 4 year old listening with my mom in 1963. Some great jazz musicians back then. I met Dizzy Gillespie back in 1978 at a concert in which I got a chance to play a couple songs with his band. it was a fond memory!... The best show I ever attended was playing with Spyro Gyra back in the mid 1970's. My advice to new listeners is to find a comfortable chair, put on good quality headset and close your eyes!
