I love jazz because... I find it to be the truest form of my musical self. Other musical forms allow me to inject aspects of my musical character, but only through live improvisation do I get to show the audience what is going on inside me at that moment and involve them in the creative process of composing. I was first exposed to jazz... When I was quite young with my first jazz album, "Wynton Marsalis, Live at Blues Alley". I did not know what I was hearing but I could not stop listening. From that point on I wanted to be a part of that world. My advice to new listeners... Don't take your recordings for granted. Live music is a way to not only unplug but a way to connect with the artist and to support those that are working hard to fill our lives with great music.
