I love jazz because...it opens my head, my heart, my soul and there are infinite interpretations of where I can go with it. I was first exposed to jazz...from musician friends who just played together. They would have these long “conversations” that could go on and on. I met [musician name]... The best show I ever attended was...Rahssan Roland Kirk. 1976 at UMass Amherst. I was like...what!!!????? My son’s middle name is Rahssan. Hassan Rahsaan. The first jazz record I bought was... My advice to new listeners...Listen to ALL the genres of jazz. You’ll never be bored ever. Or whatever else you have in mind.
