Jim Olin is a freelance writer and jazz enthusiast and collector.
There was a time wherein Jim Olin did not understand jazz. But that was decades ago when horse-drawn carriages were still the mode of transportation. No, that is an exaggeration. Raised on rock & roll, Olin did not begin to appreciate jazz until he discovered the likes of Ornette Coleman and Frank Zappa. Olin began at the fringes of jazz before falling in love with at all. He lives with two dogs and hundreds of jazz records, respectful of the past but still in tune with the future of the genre.
