My Jazz Story
I'm a recovering classical musician. I'm retired now, but I played French in a symphony orchestra for 25 years, followed by teaching it at a university for 21 more years. But I"ve also
always played guitar in various styles, and learned jazz guitar in the 1980s. I have composed for many years, and learning jazz greatly expanded (and improved) my composing
and understanding of music, vastly more than classical studies did. I wish jazz studies of any kind or level were a required part of every classical player's music education.
