My Jazz Story

I love jazz because... the rhythms, harmony & instrumentation are energizing. I was first exposed to jazz... by my parents as a toddler. I met [musician name]... Jean Luc Ponty, Daryl Stuermer, Steve Smith, Pat Metheny (& studied with him briefly), Barney Kessel, Howard Roberts (& studied with him briefly), Joe Morello, Allan Holdsworth (& studied with him briefly), Clark Terry, many others.. One of the best shows I ever attended was: Wichita Jazz Festival ft. Dizzy Gillespie, Gary Burton Quintet with Pat Metheny, Lyle Mays Quartet from NTSU, & many others. One of the first jazz records I bought was... Mahavishnu Orchestra's The Inner Mounting Flame My advice to new listeners... if you hear something that inspires you to do something.. or to not do something, then it has served a great purpose.
