Jared Steer

About Me

Jared Steer is an active performer nationally. He has performed with Steve Rucker of the Bee- Gees, Bill Trujillo (Stan Kenton and Woody Herman sideman), Vince Welnick (of the Grateful Dead), Kimberly Dahme of the band Boston, Shawn Monteiro, Al Hospers (Buddy Rich, Blood Sweat and Tears, Bruce Hornsby) and Tony Sarno. He has shared the stage with Room Full of Blues, Matt Wilson, The Samples, Allison Krauss and The Fringe. Jared has performed with many local acts such as Tony Sarno, Ben Rudnick and Friends, Ground Wise, Lichen, Joe Deleault, Kara Tondorf, Dave Carroll, The Local Citizens, Johnny and the Moon dogs, Loli and the Lollygaggers, Phil Sargent, Jerry Sabatini, Richard Gardzina, Rick Prince, Oddway, Roots Nation Reggae, Notable Decades, Lamont Smooth, The Amorphous Band and many others. He has recorded with Ben Rudnick and friends, Bob McCarthy, The Local Citizens, The Best of Boston Jazz Compilation 2001, Oddway, Buddy Cage of New Riders of the Purple Sage, Randy Roos, and Margo Timmons of the Cowboy Junkies. Jared is currently involved with the Creative Music Series presented by Avant Coast, based in the Greater Boston Area. He also tours with The New Art Theatre, an independent theatre company, most falls. He is very active within the Boston/New Hampshire jazz community.

Jared has performed at such venues as the House of Blues-Cambridge; Coolidge Corner Theatre; The Porstmouth Music Hall, Porstsmouth, NH; Regent Theatre; Stoneham Theatre; Johnny D’s in Cambridge, Ma; the Discover Jazz Festival in Burlington, VT; The Regatta Bar in Cambridge, MA; Manchester Jazz and Blues Festival, Manchester, NH; Portsmouth Children’s Festival; Lincoln Center in NYC; Harper’s Ferry, Alston, MA; The Stone Church, Newmarket, NH; The Press Room, Portsmouth, NH; The Wendy’s LPGA Championship for Children; The Hatch Shell, Boston, Ma; The Newburyport Heritage Festival; Don’t Tell Mama’s-NYC; the Bitter End-NYC; CBGB’s-NYC; Tribeca Rock Club, NYC; Café Lena’s-Saratoga Springs, NY; The Bowery Poets Club, Greenwich Viallage, NYC; Club Passim, Boston, Ma; and numerous other venues throughout the nation. He has been fortunate enough to study with some master musicians such as Bob Gullotti (Boston Jazz Guru, The Fringe)(2002 to present), Jeff Ballard (NYC first call musician, sideman with Chick Corea, Pat Metheny, Kurt Rosenwinkel, Brad Mehldau) (2007-2008), Bob Moses (Pat Metheny, Gary Burton, The Free Spirits)( 2000-2002), Roberto Vizcaino Guillot of Cubanismo (Summer 1997), Tim Gilmore (1998-2000), Craig Fahey(1997), Eric Hughes (1996-1998), and master classes with Horacio “El Negro” Hernandez, Matt Wilson, Steve Rucker, Glen Velez, Dave DiCenso, Dave Mattacks, and Giovanni Hidalgo. Jared is currently endorsed by Grover Pro Percussion and Silverfox Drumsticks.
