About Me

An accomplished singer, songwriter, multi-intsrumentalist, thespian and executive, Jana Herzen enjoys exploring and promoting creativity in multiple disciplines. She was instrumental in founding the long- standing MCC Theater based in Manhattan, and is the visionary behind the acclaimed Motéma record label, which has promoted many established and rising jazz artists including Gregory Porter, Joey Alexander, Randy Weston, Monty Alexander, Shuteen Erdenebaatar and many more. Herzen has released three albums as a singer/songwriter/guitarist with jazz, world, reggae and folk influences: Soup's on Fire, Nothing But Love, Passion Of A Lonely Heart (in duo with Charnett Moffett) , 'Round The World (in duo with Charnett Moffett) Herzen's first release, Soup's on Fire, was the initial spark for the Motema label and reflects the diversity and passion of the roster of major players that Herzen has assembled through the years.
