Jamie Taylor is a UK based jazz guitarist and bandleader, who also lectures in jazz guitar at the UK's largest music and drama school, Leeds Conservatoire.

About Me

Hofner Artist Jamie Taylor is a jazz guitarist

based in the North of England.

He is also a principal lecturer at Leeds

Conservatoire (the UK’s largest music and drama school), teaching jazz guitar

and musicianship on the BA Hons degree programme, for which he was Course

Leader between 2007-2009.

Today, Jamie gives performances,

masterclasses and workshops around the UK, and also offers private guitar lessons.

Jamie maintains a busy performing schedule,

and has worked with leading musicians across a range of styles, such as Steve Fishwick, Sebastiaan DeKrom, Sheryl Bailey, John Stowell, Roni Ben-Hur, John Goldsby, Wayne Escoffery, Kate Williams, Dave Whitford, Jeremy Brown, Steve Watts, Andrea DiBiase, Pete Whittaker, Richard Iles, Adrian Ingram, Alan Barnes, Jim Mullen, Baptiste Herbin, Laura Jurd, Steve Brown, Tori Freestone, Reuben Fowler, David Lyttle, Tom Harrison, Carlos

Lopez-Real, Gary Potter, Richard Hawley, and

The Pigeon Detectives.

His latest project is the band “Trio JDM” led by drummer Dave Walsh and featuring organist Martin Longhawn. The group’s debut album “Fast Corners” will be released on 26th November 2023, accompanying by a short tour.

In September 2017, Jamie also toured the UK as a member of the jazz-rock group ”Perpetual Motion Machine”.

Having taught jazz exclusively, and at

conservatoire level, for more than fourteen years, Jamie is now one the country’s

most experienced tutors in the idiom, and many of his former students

have now gone on to successful careers of their own; some of these include members of Roller Trio, Bryan Ferry Orchestra, Led Bib, Submotion Orchestra, Everything Everything, The 1975, and Sony/EMI artist Bruno Major. Thanks to the

possibilities of the internet, Jamie now has

students all over the world. He is a featured “master” on the internationally

respected website Mike’s Masterclasses, where other masters include

Lorne Lofsky, Paul Bollenbeck, Sheryl Bailey, John Stowell, and Steve

Herberman amongst others.

Jamie was himself a student at Leeds

Conservatoire (then Leeds College of Music),

graduating in 2000 with first class honours and receiving the Eric

Kershaw Prize for Plectrum Guitar. After a further year of study, he

completed his M.Mus degree, and was awarded the College Prize for

Postgraduate Studies.
