Jake Burton - Nashville Drummer
Jake Burton is a professional drummer in Nashville, TN.
About Me
Jake Burton began drumming formally at the age of 7, although he had a drum kit as early as age three. He learned basic rock beats from his uncle and then played to records, tapes, and the radio until the age of 15. At that point he began taking private lessons at a local music store with Dave Kroyer who further ignited his love for drumming that still remains today. In college, Jake obtained a B.S. in Biomedical Engineering while studying drums and symphonic percussion with St. Louis Symphony veteran Tom Stubbs. Following college, Jake enrolled in the prestigious Drummer's Collective School of Music in New York City, excelling in the Advanced Performance Program. Jake taught drum lessons at Holzum Music and at St. Louis Community College while living in St. Louis for 4 years. He has also done session work for various studios in the greater St. Louis, Seattle, New York City, Spokane, and Nashville Metropolitan areas and has opened up for national touring acts such as Nelly, The Gin Blossoms, Afroman, Presidents of the United States of America, and Leon Russell. Jake won Guitar Center's Drum Off finals in St. Louis in 2002. Jake Burton has performed live with jazz greats Russell Malone, Eddie Daniels, and John Stowell. Jake Burton plays all genres of music, but is partial to jazz, rock, and funk.
