About Me
My Jazz Story
Ever since my mother gave me Art Blakey and the Jazz Messengers' 7" "Blues March" at age 14, I'm in love with jazz (besides punk, funk, no wave, contemporary classical music and 'non-western' music). After Blakey, the first time I heard "Out to Lunch" by Eric Dolphy is another listening adventure I still can recall vividly today. Later on, thanks to The Ex, I was introduced to the improv scene in and around Amsterdam's The Bimhuis. I've been working as a cultural journalist and music promotor in Amsterdam during the years 2000-2019. In december 2019 I moved to Oostend, Belgium, to work as music promoter at arts center KAAP, active in both Oostend and Bruges. See www.kaap.be for our activities.
