My Jazz Story

The best show I ever attended was Tony Williams Quintet at the Regattabar in Boston, April 1992. I attended the show with some drummer friends from Berklee College of Music, and we were literally screaming, because the music was so intense! Tony's command over the instrument was frightening, his compositions were complex and beautiful, and his band, Wallace Roney on trumpet, Billy Pierce on saxophone, Mulgrew Miller on piano and Ira Coleman on bass, were first class. The sound in the venue was impeccable, and it was truly a memorable experience. I'm very grateful that I was able to be there, I will never forget it.
