Ikechi Onyenaka is an American Jazz Saxophonist, Multi-Instrumentalist, Singer-Songwriter, and Recording Artist from Upper Darby, Pennsylvania on the rise in modern jazz. Although his primary instrument is the alto saxophone, he also plays the tenor saxophone, soprano saxophone, clarinet, piano, keyboard, bass, and drums. As a saxophonist and songwriter, he takes on a wide range of influences from the likes of Grover Washington Jr, Kenny Garrett, Robert Glasper, Stevie Wonder, and J Cole. Through emotionally driven saxophone melodies, atmospheric piano chords, and immaculate bass lines, Ikechi Onyenaka has truly created his own lane in modern jazz with his original music. Consistent YouTube video uploads and live performances in and outside the Philadelphia area have seen Ikechi Onyenaka grow a loyal fan base, playing at numerous events and venues, including the prestigious City Winery Philadelphia, Haverford Music Festival, Philadelphia Winterfest Tree Lighting, Facebook Watch’s ‘Peace Out 2020’, and The NAMM Show. As an endorsed artist of Neotech Straps and Beechler Mouthpieces, Ikechi’s work has been shared by numerous world-renowned artists and companies on social media, including Will Smith, Pitbull, DJ Khaled, Snoop Dogg, DDG, OG Parker, Bankrol Hayden, Rotimi, Romeo Miller, SoulForReal, Be ON IT, LeriQ, Reel Goats, 6abc Action News, and NBC10 Philadelphia. He is a three-time history-making saxophone player, becoming the first solo saxophonist to perform in Philadelphia’s Wawa Welcome America Salute to Independence Parade, Homecoming 250 Navy and Marine Corps Parade, as well as Franklin University’s Commencement Ceremony. Ikechi aspires to become a world-renowned solo artist as well as a sideman for both mainstream and independent artists.
