About Me
My Jazz Story
I was first exposed to jazz through my father's record collection, and music he played on the radio. At an early age I was taken to local jazz concerts, usually free ones at local parks.
I recall seeing Gene Krupa and Lionel Hampton in the early 1970s. When I was about 10 years old I was gifted a sizeable collection of Jazz and pop 78s by my dad (someone at his
workplace was giving them away) and I became exposed to and interested in artists like Duke Ellington, Coleman Hawkins, Benny Goodman, Cootie Williams, Cab Calloway, etc. I
began hunting for vintage 78s at local junk shops and antique stores. I've been collecting records for over 50 years.
